ScooterDemand.com Purchase Experience
By Dan Hogan | Published  10/4/2006
I recently purchased a scoot from Scooterdemand.com nick has been my point of contact. He is the worst customer service person I have come across in memory. the whole experience has been a pain. Nick is full of SH big time. I work in a call center customer service claims adjuster for a auto extended warranty co. If we conducted business the way Nick and Scooter demand.com did we would be out of business. Nick promised me the paperwork was in the mail over a week ago only to get a call from him needing the VIN number of my scoot. What the heck is he not supposed to know that already. He has made promises and not kept them. Then when I wanted to talk to his boss the poop hit the fan. He actually has threatened me if i "pressure him"the paperwork would get delayed. how is that for customer service. gonna file a compaint with the attorney general in thier home state. and contact rocketa directly. I have read many stories about the paperwork nightmares and now it is happening to me. sours me from ever buying off the internet. Too bad I actually like my scoot. I would not recomend buying a paper bag from scooterdemand.com with people in that organization like Nick they wont be in business long. I will ck out the other options I have for parts for shure. they are not the only game in the US. Scooters are just gonna get more popular for shure with gas prices and companies like scooterdemand will not last long. this is the US and we are used to a higher level of service unfortunately people like Nick dont have a clue.

I brought my scooter a tank tour 150 de at scooter Demand. What a horror story. It makes one think twice about buying a scooter online. My Contact person was Sean. But I had to deal with Tony and Mike. They took three weeks to ship after they billed my card.

On the day I finally recieved almost one month later. I filled out the MSO form online. I must of filled out five times. But they never aknowledged it by email or when I called. Tony and Mike consistanly gave me a hard time. Sean could not be bothered.

It would take a whole month to get my title to register my bike with the DMV. But no thanks to scooter demand. I had to go to Tank Motors. Tank does not deal with the indivisual consumer. So they sent my title back the dealer Scooter Demand. Only after I faxed the origanal credit card purchase and Vin #. No thanks to tank either. I probably will never purchase a Mope/scooter online again because of this awful experience. The only good thing is that the Tank Touring is an expectional Scooter for the price. Tank should have more integrity. But don't expect from a chinese company.

The reason Scooter Demand takes it's time sending the title is because they want money. If you pay $65.00 they have no problem sending you the title.still when they feel like it.

Scooter Demand is also called Winwin Auto group. Don't buy anything from them. They are a bunch of creeps!

    Danny

PS: when I did get my title it was in Winwin auto group's name. so I had to pay for a new title all over again. it the star of NY it cost $50.00 Scooter demand.com what a bounch of greedy lying creeps!

I purchased a rm150-16 scooter from scooter demand and I had the very same problems as the other customers and then some.
For starters, I am not discouraged and I will continue to buy items online, despite my countless issues with scooter demand. i trust online service but i don't like scooter demands service dept.
Okay, first off I ordered my scooter in early June and didn't get the thing until September. After that I had to assemble the thing, well the front tire and the trunk. The trunk installation was easy but I don't know anything about scooters so i had to call a mechanic to put on the wheel. Oh, and the thing wouldn't start no matter what i did.
(by the way the online instructions were terrible because the author spoke as though everyone knows what all the technical parts are on the bike and the pictures were shot from impossible angles for a laymen to follow) The tow, to and fro came out to $100.00. That doesn't include the $200.00 they charged me to put the front tire on and get the thing started.

when it was done I rode it arund the block and it ran well. but still i didn't have plates. In nyc without a title, you cannot be issued plates. which brings me to problem number two. I called these guys too many times and they kept saying they would send me the title. after two weeks, each time, i had to call them again. That took about 10 weeks. They were acting as if i were bothering them every time i called. i literally got nervous every time i called there.
While i was waiting for the title i decided to purchase a helmet i asked for a XX but after countless weeks they send me a large, that thing barely fit over my fist. It's not their fault i have a big head, but i ordered a XX. i sent the helmet back and four weeks later i got the new helmet that was barely larger than the first and in the wrong color. i decided to keep it so as not to have to deal with those guys again, i'll use it as a spare for my kid or an action figure.
Now, since i waited so long, and the bike sat in my garage, the thing wont start, again. I purchased a battery charger and that didn't solve the problem. I called my mechanic, he took a look at it and got it started again but it conked out again. He says the battery is crappy and he may have to order another. But still, i didn't have the registration so i couldn't get the plates.
Finally i got the paperwork and took it all down to the DMV who charged me $211.00 for state tax on the bike as well as the registration sticker.
Right now the bike is at my mechanic and i haven't even ridden it one whole mile yet.
I have to admit i like the bike though. its great looking, sturdy and it rode well when it was running. I simply wont do any more business with scooter demand because their customer service reps are terrible people who don't know the first thing about "service"

I bought a scooter from them this year and the only problem I had was they said my payment did not clear so I bought again. Then, the payment cleared and they returned the additional amount. My scooter arrived a week later and the title and Bill of sale a short time after. Since then, the website was withdrawn for maintenance and I can't browse for accessories anymore. Other than that, the attitudes in the responses were a little on the sharp side but the service turn around time was quick and exactly what was order. We Americans work here, we know the pressures and we expect more than we give ourselves. Businesses will never stay in business with the petty complaints we make.

Hey all I received my touring deluxe title in the mail in about a week. I have been riding it faithfully almost every other day and I have managed to put around 400 miles on it already! I havent really had any problem except everytime I turn it off and let it set a day or so the battery is dead the next time i try to ride it! It is driving me insane does anyone have any suggestions I finally disconnected the alarm speaker do you think it might be the alarm going off all the time because it is sensitive. ALSO: In regards to LIZ's comment I was also wondering on how to install a cd player where the radio is. thanks alot you all.

Bought a scoot at Scooterdemand.com and got the wrong paperwork the first time. Finally got the right paperwork and got it registered only to find out that they ship the scooters with liquid in the radiator that is not freeze protected. Needless to say our average temperature here is 25dg and the engine cylinder froze and broke.
The "customer service" guy of course told me I would have to send the scooter back on my dime. We agreed that I would send the broken parts back and they would evaluate and send me new stuff that I would install.
This is fine since I am a mechanic but what about other people who are not.
The point here is the bike was shipped without proper freeze protection so if anyone out there is getting one of these bikes, they should make sure it is shipped with the proper antifreeze mixture for their temperature extremes.
Scooterdemand.com offered no input on this problem other than I should call the factory and complain.
I wasn’t counting on having to rebuild this brand new scooter this soon but I will to avoid shipping charges.
    Bad overall experience for me.

OMG...I have had hell dealing with Nick also!! I purchased a Manchoman 250 from him last year and when it came, it wasn't what I purchased online. I wanted a red scooter, he sent me a black one. I wanted the one with a MP3 hookup with buttons and he sent one with a volume knob(how old school is that?)!! And what really pissed me the f..k off was when it arrived, it was all damaged!! How are you gonna send something that cost $2500 and not make sure it was secure and bubble wrapped? It was scratched up, had a broken tail light, had a dented trunk, the paint on the seat wasn't even dry and was smeared, and the battery gave out within 3weeks of riding it!!! So I called and asked for Nick, and I knew it was him on the line, and he knew it was me on the other line also, and he pretended he wasn't there!! He also tried to say that he was an American, when I had asked him if he was Vietnamese!! Homeboy told me his name was Nick Cox!! Sh.t, yeah right!!! His ass has an accent and I could tell!! Now after having the scooter for about 6 months its starting to break down already!! Now that stupid company ain't nowhere to be found!!! If anyone out there knows how to get in contact with these stupid mofos, tell me HOW!!!

I have had nothing but great to say about scooterdemand. I've had no problems at all. I have about 1100 mi. on my Roketa 150-same battery after 2 years-starts instantly, and I took the papers that came with it to the license/title place and 15 min later, I had it all. I just don't understand any of those complaints. I also bought another one (just like mine) for a friend about 18 mo. ago--same superlative service. Why is it so different with me? I don't know. this is for Bob in Tenessee, My scoot has almost 7000 miles on it the
first 3400 were pretty good. yours only has 1100 miles on it. Good luck buddy I sincerely hope your scoot is the exception to the rule
after about 3k be prepared for the poop to hit the fan. as soon as I
can find the exhaust gasket that scooter demand will not send and
a lower engine cover mine is sold for cheap. The engine parts they
sent me were all used, they did work and it does run again but
what a pain Scooter Demand has been. Sure they were great at time
of sale but have you tried to get parts when it starts falling apart??
again I hope your scoot is the exception to the rule. However I think you will find in a few more miles stuff will start to break and fall off. The try dealing with those yo-yo's and get your parts per thier
    "warranty".

PS for all you scoot fans out there. Since I like the concept of scoots but dread Scooterdemand and the chinese junk they sell. Listen
up. I have since bought a KYMCO people 250. I am here to tell ya what
a difference, Now the KYMCO is what scoots are supposed to be like
so forget Nick and his fly by night business. Spend the extra bucks
and get a scoot that has been aroung for a long time and is just about bulletproof.

This is for everyone who bought one, and everyone thinking of buying a scooter.. DO YOUR RESEARCH PEOPLE!! WHy would you not research this as much as you would any other large purchase?? I will give you all a quick run down of what to know about buying ALL scooters:
Don't buy online unless your a tinkerer..You aren't going to get a scooter that runs forever with out trouble.. And it's expensive to take them to a shop..If you buy online, you are NOT going to have a warranty that will fix anything... Most warranties are parts only, and even then, good luck...
Second, You have to take care of these things, and do your own setup, When a dealer buys a few Honda or Yamaha scooters, guess what? THey have to go over each one and make sure that the nuts and bolts are tight, that the electrical connections are tight, etc, because they don't want the resulting lawsuit if they loosened up while shipping, or weren't tightened up right at the factory.. When buying Online, YOU ARE THE DEALER, not the seller you bought it from, they are the DROPSHIPPER, They have NEVER seen your bike, that is why they ask for the VIN number, they have NO IDEA WHAT IT IS...This isn't exactly a bad thing, but not exactly a good thing either..

Change the fluids regularly, and don't run these things at Wide Open Throttle for extended periods, 80 percent of the people who have major problems with their scooters buy a bike smaller than they need. they will get a 150 and expect it to run on the freeway at 70mph every day 12 miles each way, guess what? a few weeks of doing that is going to tear that thing up.. people get 250's and do the same thing, running 75_ on the freeways all the time.. A 250 will cruise at 65-70 but don't push it much more than that, and not that long.. If you want something like that, go with a 400 or larger..

And again RESEARCH!! Know what your getting and who from.. Go to http://scootdawg.proboards59.com and check out the information there, they have a whole section dedicated to online sellers, who's good and who's not.. What to check first when you get your scoot, and how to maintain it... What to expect..
There are guys on there with Roketa MC-54's that have close to 10,000 on them already, and still going strong and looking nice.. They are great scoots, with the right attitude and PDI.. It isn't the scooter's fault, Most of the time, it's your own for not knowing how to maintain it, and care for it.. These aren't like cars, they need more maintenance.. These are smaller engines, and need TLC.. Learn, and ENJOY..

I agree with you guys. They are not very customer friendly there. I really like my scooter, but it has had a few problems. I've called them to get some pointers or parts but they have not been any help.
Now there web site is down and I wonder if they have gone out of business.

I bought a Roketa 150cc from ScooterDemand....nothing but problems. Speedometer didn't work - battery keeps going dead and it seems ScooterDemand went out of business!!
