I was really excited when I heard that we had a Tank Urban Touring 250 in our warehouse. So exited that I immediately asked our mechanic to assemble the scooter. I wanted to be the first one testing this scooter. The Tank Urban Touring 250 was assembled. Our mechanic made some adjustments, added gas, installed the battery. First glance the scooter looks the same as the 150, same body style but you can also notice the difference in physical engine size. It was basically the same assembly as the 150. The scooter was completed and it looked nice.

Sat down on the scooter and began to crank. Being a new scooter it took a few tries but it eventually started. The sound was much throatier and deeper than the 150. After a few engine revs I noticed a vibration noise coming from the rear. Our mechanic checked and could not pin-point where the noise was coming from. It sounded as if it was coming from the trunk area. Some more adjustments and still the same noise and vibration. We contacted Tank the manufacturer and we were informed that they have noticed the same in the other sample models that they had received.
We decided to continue with our test. WOW big difference on the pickup… This bike from the get go is much responsive to the throttle than the 150. I left the complex where the shop is located and went for a small ride around the block. Acceleration on the scooter was great, quick response, great comfort but I could not see through my rearview mirrors due to the vibration. This may be something that Tank may want to look at.
When comparing the Tank Touring 250 to the Kymco Bet and Win 250 I can frankly say that performance is awesome on both scooters. Acceleration, braking, comfort and ride on both scooters is very similar. The difference would be in the instrumentation, the Kymco digital instrumentation panel is great and the vibration on the rear trunk area on the Tank Touring 250. I will continue to follow up on the Touring and report any changes in the near future.
The Tank Touring 250 is definitely a great choice when considering the purchase of a 250cc scooter.
