I took delivery of my Brand New Tank Touring 250DE on October 8th, 2008. I bought it from Extreme-Scooters in Warner Robins, GA. They drop shipped it to my home with no mention that it should have been shipped to a Mechanic. We removed it from it's angle iron crate to find that there were no bumpers to save it from the angle iron scraping the plastic body. That was the First thing.

We assembled all of the loose parts (I was told by Dave Bergman of Extreme-Scooters that all I had to do would be to attach the windshield and mirrors, connect the spark plug and battery cables...) well, there were quite a few more parts that were not bolted/screwed down. Checked all of the fluids and connections, put gas in her and cranked her up. She ran rough even after adjusting the RPMs. Took her up to the gas station to finish filling the tank and it died twice. Coasted back into the driveway and made a couple of adjustments. Still ran very rough. Took it around the block a few times and then a bit further out... It started to sputter and backfired several times - even stalled repeatedly when I decelerated until it finally would not start back up. I had to get a neighbor to help me walk her back to the house 3 blocks.

She would start but then choke out and die. Now, it won't start at all. I have her at the mechanics and well, he is baffled because it should crank over at least. He has checked everything outside of tearing the motor down.

When I contacted Extreme, Dave's response was that he would be happy to help me order parts for her. Er uhm, she only has 10 miles and 4.5 of those were on her at delivery. His excuse... it is a parts only warranty... But the Scooter Wasn't Right to Begin With! Tank-Sports are also saying that they can only cover the Parts! The Product Is Defective to Begin With! It isn't as if I road her 100 miles without oil in it...

I only want what a Paid For! A Fully Functioning 2008 Tank Touring 250DE! They delivered a defective product and they should replace it! Georgia's lemon laws do not pertain to Motorcycles or Mopeds so Dave feels he has fulfilled his duties as a dealer - Taking My Check. I cannot recommend anyone purchasing from Extreme-Scooters EVER!

My teeth are sunk into this at this point and no matter the costs, Extreme-Scooters and Tank-Sports Industries work with me to resolve the issue of delivering their DEFECTIVE Product or off to court we go! NO ONE ALLOW Dealers and Distributors to Get Away with dumping defective machines on you!

I will post more as the saga unfolds.

there is no article... I bought my 2008 Tank Touring 250DE from Extreme-Scooters.com. Dave Bergman was extremely helpful during the financial end of the transaction but when the scooter arrived, it had 4 miles on it. Mechanic in hand we uncrated it and assembled it. Assembly was easy enough but it idled horribly. Then it never turned over again. It has been at the mechanic's since I took delivery in September. They delivered a defective scooter and neither the Dealer, Bergman nor Joel with Tank Motor Sports will agree that they are responsible for a defective product. My mechanic sent back the CDI and Tank took 3 weeks to send the replacement... now it looks to be the wiring harness is defective as well. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON A TANK TORUING 250DE - IT IS ONLY A 3 YEAR 36K PARTS ONLY WARRANTY AND THEY CONSIDER IT USED AFTER DROPPING OFF OF A TRUCK! NO MATTER IF IT IS STILL IN THE CRATE!! DON'T BUY FROM DAVE BERGMAN!

    I do have a 2008 Tank Touring 250DE.

Mine tanked immediately on the same 2 miles of purchase! The dealer became non-communicative. The Tank manufacturer denied a scooter replacement/refund.

Even if you have mechanical skills, be wary of the parts you purchase (see other forums).

Tank manufacturer is still pushing out less than quality scooters. Purchased from a dealer who lacked any form of knowledge (being a new scooterist, I learned too late). The dealer disappeared and the Tank Touring 250DE became a large ornament!

Not here, I love my Tank 260cc scooter. it rides well and Tank took care of the parts I ordered online. It's not tank, to most dumb people they think it's the brand name, but really, it's the dealer most of the times. If you have it from the internet, then you made your own shitty luck because the dealer is suppose to take care of the scooter before you sell it. has nothing to do with the brand name. But really, you're kind of stupid for buying on line from the first place! Stop being so damn cheap and go through a legit dealer!!!
